There's about to be a lot of noise online about New Year's resolutions, goal setting, etc.

We see it every year. The gym is packed with tons of new faces, everyone is doing a cleanse or dry January, or making huge declarations about their 2023 goals and then two weeks later... most of them have gone back to their normal habits.

If you're into resolutions and they work for you, enjoy! I do think they can be fun and sometimes play around with them. Other times I prefer to set intentions or choose a word of the year.

But if you're not into resolutions and are craving something new, I've got a rec for ya.

Here's what I'm doing this year instead:

IDENTITY.

What does that mean?

I'm deciding who I want to BE.

Most of us think that in order to change our lives, we should focus on our actions. And yes, that is absolutely true. But it's not the whole story.

When we only focus on our actions, the initial excitement - of going to the gym, or cooking more at home, for example - can wear off pretty quickly.

Then what? That's when most people give up or employ sheer will power to muscle their way through their own resistance.

Doesn't usually work that great.

I've found that focusing on identity is WAY more effective. And easier. And fun!

Figure out WHO you would need to become in order to achieve your goals or live the kind of life you want to live.

Then practice showing up as that person every day.

That's it.

Start with identity and take your actions from there.

Be wildly successful.

But do it YOUR way.
